15 of August, Saint Michel, 2015

Another 15th of August, another family reunion… This year, the weather was pretty cold, and it looked like it was about to rain, so we had our aperitif outside, but then headed inside for lunch itself.

On the menu for the apero this year… assorted crudites with homemade mayonnaise –  mini soups (beetroot with goat cheese, carrot with cumin, and gazpacho)…

… and the real winner, the mini savoury muffins. We made lardons and herb ones, tomato and goat cheese (and lardons again!), courgette and herb ones, and plain goat cheese ones. These went in a flash, as you can see from the table.

… and of course, some Jurancon local wine to wash it all down!

The main course? Several salads… a potato, olive, ham and tomato salad (eh) and a melon, lardons, pine nuts, gruyere, and mache salad (much better tasting!) – alongside this, some roasted pork slices and some salted beef (not in the picture), but served with a red pepper sauce and the homemade mayonnaise for dipping.

For dessert, some Pyrenees local cheese, then an apricot tart. Then, back outside for coffee! Happy 15th!
