The Chillhouse, Canggu, Bali

While in Canggu, we stayed at the Chillhouse, a very chilled out (haha) boutique hotel with about twenty rooms/bungalows that has large, communal tables for breakfast, four pools around the property, and offers surfing, yoga, and biking classes and tours.

A big perk of the Chillhouse is that breakfast and dinner are included… and are delicious. Breakfast is served from 7 until 11:30 and you can come back as many times as you want (ie, you may want to go before and after your morning surf!) With grain bowls, omelettes and everything in between, the choices are endless…

Then, around 10am, they put out a number of other veggies combinations, from cabbage and quinoa, to pesto-roasted pumpkin, to carrot and lentils… all very fresh and tasty.

For lunch, there’s a selection of wraps, sandwiches and salads that you can order, along with a few Indonesian specialties such as nasi goreng…

And then dinner is different every night, from European to Indonesian cuisine, curries to barbecued fish. My favourite dinner was one with a bunch of Indonesian dishes, including some of the best chicken satay I’ve ever had, grilled sardines in a sambal and chilli sauce, a delicious mixed rice, and these greens, below… sauteed spinach, green beans, sprouts, ginger, chilli, shallots, and a few other bits of seasoning made these a dish that I reached for four different times… mm.

Then a quick rush over to the beach to check out one of the many amazing (and different every time!) sunsets…
