A last minute weekend away to the Cotswolds, as it was cold and rainy… we found a cute B&B in Burford and arrived in time for a late lunch. Most places had stopped serving, but the Priory was still serving some food, as well as a cream tea.
I went for the steak and ale pie… that wasn’t so much pie as the sauce and steak, topped with pastry crust… but it worked. The sauce was nice and thick, with good chunks of steak… the pastry was a bit unnecessary, but fine. And all served with a side of boiled veggies.
Afterwards, we wandered around, finding cute town after cute town, including Bibury, below… what a charming part of the world!
That evening, we went to the Angel at Burford gastro-pub for dinner. With one of the best ratings on Trip Advisor, it did not disappoint… my brill was perfectly cooked, served with salsify and potatoes in a buttery sauce.
