Casa di Stefano, Mayfair

A lunch in Mayfair at a place that has recently opened… Casa di Stefano used to be Alloro, the old-school Italian place on Dover Street that was absolutely delicious, so I was a bit cynical when they opened up a different Italian restaurant in it’s place!

But it certainly delivered… The atmosphere is light and airy, and makes you feel like you’re somewhere on the French or Italian Riviera…

We started off by sharing the octopus carpaccio, which was covered in all of the beautiful vegetables that you see below… as tasty as it was pretty.

Then we each went for a pasta dish… I went for the spaghetti with crab and chili, which as you can tell was absolutely fantastic… so well muddled almost to the point of being mushy… in the best way possible. It took me about five minutes to eat.

Alice (who else would I be eating with?!) went for the linguine with mushrooms and black truffle, which was also out of this world… I had tasted a bit of the pasta once when I had come for dinner, and it was just as good this time… I’m not sure you can go wrong with the pastas here!

Shifting outside to have an espresso on the terrace, we enjoyed the sun and pretended that we over on the continent and somewhere a bit sunnier…
