A Cevicheria, Lisbon, Portugal

A weekend in Lisbon to join Andre… the first night, when I got in, we headed to the Principe Real area, to a restaurant with a few standing tables outside and a huge octopus on the ceiling inside! A Cevicheria doesn’t take reservations, so we planned to have a few tapas, a pisco sour, and then be on our way.

But after the pisco sour and tapas… a fish ceviche, a “surf and turf” sandwich which had both , and a steak tartare taco (all delicious… a few were quite interesting mixes…), we decided that we wanted to stay… so put our names down and waited another hour to sit.

After a delicious gazpacho to start, we had the confit cod with crab, corn and polenta, served with a delicious, buttery and safron sauce.

Then, the octopus with blistered tomatoes, hazelnut, onions, and pork rinds… Also delicious, but not as good as that great saffron sauce on the cod…

For dessert, we finished off with a dulce de leche dish… and licked the plate clean. All washed down by a very cheap (and good) bottle of Vinho Verde (and small sips of our neighbours’ very pink rose), we happily headed back to the hotel…

Since we had tried the tapas to start, we only tried a few of the dishes on the menu.. but they all looked great. I’d come straight back the next time in Lisbon, as this was a real treat!
