The National, New York

A quick power lunch with a good friend that I wouldn’t have time to see otherwise… Sapna and I met at the National, which is a great place for a business breakfast or lunch. They tucked us in a corner where we could gossip…

Sapna got the roasted salmon – served with brussel sprouts (at this point, I was still on brussel sprout overload from Thanksgiving, or would have taken some of hers), pumpkin, cranberry and sage. She said that it was pretty good… not too overcooked for a piece of salmon!

And mine was delicious, roasted chicken (with an herb coating) that was perfectly cooked, not overdone – served with blistered grapes, labneh, parsnips, and a delicious bulgar salad. It was a great combination… I don’t typically like savoury and sweet together, but the grapes were sweet and tangy, which worked well with the labneh and bulgar.

This isn’t the first good meal I’ve had at the National… and with meals like this, I’ll keep coming back!
