Cherry Izakaya, Brooklyn

A quick brunch with my brother, Heather and Sapna on a Saturday, we went to the local ramen restaurant, which had just started serving brunch. This is a place that I’d been for dinner before, but I was excited to try the brunch.

And we were pretty disappointed. The service was very slow. It took ages for us to get our ramen, and Heather, who ordered the crispy rice/ spicy tuna tartare eggs benedict, received hers another 20 minutes later. And her poached eggs were completely cooked through.

Our ramen was ok, but.. maybe there was a new chef, or someone missing in the kitchen… the broth was just ok, didn’t have tons of flavour, and was lukewarm – nothing about it was great. Just very mediocre.

For a place that I have always really liked in the past, this was pretty disappointing… I may go back, but it’ll be for dinner, not brunch!

After that… we worked on some Halloween cookies…

And then I packed up. Look who doesn’t want me to leave…
