The next day, while the others took the kids kayaking, Leigh and I decided to take it easy with her youngest and stay behind. Getting a bit stir-crazy after a few hours, we decided to head to the closest town for lunch. And found the nearest terrace for lunch, in the main square.
After taking a while flag down a waiter and menu, then more time to get him to take down our order, the food came! I went for the local salad… again with that delicious French vinaigrette and walnuts… this time, topped with duck gizzards and smoked duck “ham.” Oh, my, it was SO. MUCH. MEAT. So much.
But really good. Some of the gizzards were completely cooked through, while others were a little less-so, which gave the dish a nice variety… next to the very fatty smoked duck. But I did it, I ate the whole thing. Delicious.
Frustrated with the lack of service, we didn’t stay for an ice cream, but were very happy with our main course!
