Back in Miami, I spent a day working from the swimming pool at the Mondrain Hotel before my conference started. I’ve been to the Mondrian many times, and it’s one of my favourite hotels in Miami; the rooms are big, the pool area is nice, and they’ve just gotten a new restaurant that serves delicious Asian seafood dishes.
The pool menu is pretty good as well, there is a selection of salads, crudos and sashimis, and snacks, as well as some main dishes.
I ordered a kale salad with blue cheese, walnuts and buttermilk, alongside one of the crudos, a hamachi crudo with serano chili, crispy shallot and lime. It was a light but flavourful menu (ok, maybe the blue cheese and buttermilk on the kale weren’t that light) with enough to make me feel full but still skinny at the pool!
