The Waterway, Maida Vale

Sunday, I met my friend Rebecca on the Regent’s Canal for lunch. Betting on the weather is never a smart idea in London, but we decided to take our chances, with the amazing weather that we’ve had over the past few weeks. I did a quick rundown of restaurants bordering the canal and went with this one.

Maida Vale/ Little Venice isn’t an area I know well. I spent a few months living in Camden, back in 2008, and know the Camden part of the canal quite well, but have never spent much time in the Venice part. It is so charming!

IMG_0875[1]There are lots of riverboats, some made for cruising tours (you can ride one all the way up to Cambridge along the canal) and some made for living in!

IMG_0874[1]The Waterway itself is nice, with an ourdoor eating terrace, an indoor eating area, and an outdoor pub/drinks area. Check out all of those heat lamps…

IMG_0879[1]Rebecca and I are quite boring when we get together for brunch… we tend to have eggs. Today we switched it up a tiny bit – I got the eggs Benedict that she usually gets – they were made with proscuitto instead of Canadian bacon.

IMG_0878Rebecca got the scrambled eggs and smoked salmon, which was apparently also delicious.

IMG_0876While we were in the mood for brunch (served until 1pm on weekends), there was a large menu of lunch foods also available… and everything looked very good. I would definitely come back here for dinner on a warm summer night!
